Scott Bartos, CEO

Prior to joining LaVie, Scott was an Executive in Residence with Warburg Pincus, LLC. Warburg Pincus is a global leader in the Private Equity industry. With more than 40 years experience, Warburg Pincus has invested more than $29 billion in more than 600 companies in 30 countries around the world. Scott was the President and COO - East, for Gambro Healthcare/USA, the second largest provider of kidney dialysis in the world. The company had approximately $2 billion in revenues, 600-plus clinic locations, over 500 acute and home dialysis programs and supported 12,500 employees. Before joining Gambro, Scott was President, CEO and Director of SSI, Surgical Services, a service provider of surgical/medical devices, linens, staffing and outsourcing solutions to healthcare facilities supporting surgical procedures. Prior to SSI, Surgical Services, Scott was President, CEO and Founder of Endoscopy Specialists, Inc. (ESI), a company that provided outsourcing solutions for endoscopic surgical procedures. ESI was successfully sold to a Fortune 1000 company in 1995. Scott began his career with Pepsi-Cola in 1985 and held various sales and management positions during his six years with the company. He was recruited to join U.S. Surgical Corporation in 1991 as a Sales Director during which time he built a team that converted the nation’s largest competitive account and consistently exceeded revenue and profit targets. Scott is a graduate of the University of Florida. He is married and lives in Windermere, Fla., and actively participates in rugby, basketball, golf, tennis and weight training.

Chris RiopelleChris Riopelle, Chief Operating Officer

Prior to joining LaVie, Chris spent over eight years in a variety of senior executive roles with DaVita, Inc, a Fortune 500 Dialysis services provider with 1,500 locations and more than 34,000 team members. Chris’s experience at DaVita included roles where he led teams in Corporate Development, Mergers and Acquisitions, Compliance, Recruiting and Operational Improvement. Chris was part of the team that grew DaVita’s revenues from $2.9 billion to $6 billion and operating income from $465 million to more than $900 million. Prior to the dialysis industry, Chris worked in the Healthcare Consulting group at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he worked with providers and health plans in the areas of revenue cycle, operations integration, managed care contracting, MSO development and compliance. Prior to PwC, Chris was a senior executive at GeriMed of America, Inc., a geriatric physician practice management company. Chris holds a B.A. in Economics from Albion College and J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Detroit. Chris, his wife Sarah and their new daughter live in Tampa, Fla..

Jeff CrudeleJeff Crudele, Chief Financial Officer

Jeff Crudele leads the company’s finance and accounting operations. Jeff comes to the company as an experienced senior-level hospital and health system executive skilled in multi-facility hospital management. He has held both CEO and CFO positions, and worked with for profit as well as not-for-profit institutions. Jeff spent most of his career with HCA serving a total of 12 years in various executive level roles including Chief Financial Officer of the company’s Eastern Group. Prior to that, he was the Chief Financial Officer of its Southeast and South Florida Divisions. Jeff has held senior level positions at other healthcare providers including HPA, the Memorial Healthcare System in South Florida and Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta. Jeff, a Certified Public Accountant, began his career at Ernst & Young, where he became a manager and coordinated audit and consulting services for a myriad of organizations. He holds a BSBA degree from Florida Atlantic University. He lives in Atlanta with his wife Kelly and two sons Alec and Austin. His interests include history, politics, social issues, architecture and fine homebuilding, sports and motorcycling.

David RubensteinDavid Rubenstein, National Division President

David Rubenstein has over 20 years of long-term care operations experience. David began his healthcare career as a staff accountant for the Flatley Company. In his 10 years with the company, he also served in the capacity of Assistant Controller and Controller. From 1999 to 2004, he served in several executive capacities for Centennial HealthCare, including Vice President of Facility Accounting. From 2002 to 2003, he served as Senior Vice President of Operational Standards where he oversaw an overhead reduction project that increased efficiency and saved the company over $1 million annually. From 2003 to 2004, David served as Senior Vice President of Inpatient Services where he was responsible for the operations of 67 skilled nursing facilities. Most recently, David served as President and CEO of LaVie Administrative Services in Atlanta.

Dave McKenzieDavid McKenzie, Florida Division President

Dave came to LaVie with an impressive management background, including senior leadership positions in
the healthcare sector. Prior to joining the LaVie family, Dave most recently served as Division Vice President
for DaVita, where he managed 139 dialysis locations located throughout the state of Florida. In his role, Dave was responsible for all aspects of operations management. From 2002-2004, Dave served as Division Vice President for Gambro Health Care, where he operated 72 dialysis locations throughout Florida. From 1984-2002, Dave held various management positions with Pepsi-Co. Dave holds a BS in Business Administration from Miami University. He lives in Florida with his two children.

 

Rick Johns, Senior VP and General Counsel

Rick joined LaVie in May 2010 and in his role, leads the company on the management of all legal matters, and he brings to his position an impressive healthcare law background. Prior to joining LaVie, Rick was in private practice in Central Florida, including as a partner at Foley & Lardner, LLP, a national law firm. His clients have included publicly traded, multi-national, privately-held and non-profit organizations. His healthcare clients have included hospitals, physicians, DME companies and others. Rick has advised clients on a variety of topics including operational issues, regulatory and compliance matters, information technology issues, transactional matters and others. Rick was among 114 attorneys nationwide who made the BTI Consulting Group’s coveted Client Service All Star Team, an honor bestowed upon individual attorneys who deliver outstanding client service according to counsel interviewed at Fortune 1000 companies. Rick has also been recognized as Florida’s Legal Elite by Florida Trend magazine and was selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2008, 2009 and 2010 editions of The Best Lawyers in America. Rick attended the University of Maryland and Harvard University, and he graduated from University of Southern California School of Law. He serves as a member of various compliance and healthcare trade organizations, and he devotes his time to numerous community activities.
